“The dorje (called ‘vajra’ in Sanskrit) is the thunderbolt or diamon used as a ritual object that destroys all kinds of ignorance. The dorje is indestructible itself. In tantric rituals, dorjes and bells are inseparable ritual items.
Dorjes are used in the left hand and they represent the male element, or method. The bell is held in the right hand, and symbolises the female element, or wisdom. Together, they symbolize the union of skilful method and wisdom. The interaction between this two elements leads to enlightement.
When two dorjes are crossed, the ritual object is called ‘Viswa Vajra’ in Sanskrit. The double dorje is the emblem of Amoghasiddhi: one of the Five Wisdom Buddhas of the Vajrayana tradition.
This double dorje pendant is hand made out of brass in Nepal. “
